Olympic Security

It the news last week, it was reported that as part of the high security to be provided as part of the London 2012 Olympics, an incredible 13,500 troops will be ordered in to back up security. 5000 military personnel will aid the police, 7.500 will provide venue security and the remaining 1000 will provide logistical support.
The Ministry Of Defence has ordered this incredible force, which is the biggest security operation in the UK for decades.
The Military has been present at the Olympic games since 1996. They will work alongside civilians checking people entering the venues and providing support such as bomb disposal.
Incredibly the number of troops commissioned to provide extra security at the Olympics is a lot more than the 9500 deployed in Afghanistan.
Despite the large amount of present security, like most, the Olympic games will be a pleasant and peaceful event.
Venues are spread right across the country, from Brands Hatch Racing Track, to Old Trafford and Eton Dorney. International teams will be staying and training in other venues around the UK. The Chinese Team will be hosted at Loughborough University.
It's going to be an incredible year for the UK, not only does 2012 bring the Olympics to London, we will have thousands of visitors from all over the globe. Tourism will increase and lets hope the economy picks up due to this incredible event.
Those situated near the larger venues, consider your own security for your homes and businesses. Installing security systems and investing in high quality locks and padlocks will keep your possessions safe. We're not saying that the influx of people will cause problems but is it better to be safe than sorry.
The GOGO Padlocks team will be routing for the UK in the 2012 Olympics, it's just a shame there was no lock picking event, we think we'd win gold for that!
